Tulip Time’s 2025 schedule begins a day earlier, with tickets on sale this month

HOLLAND, MI – The wooden clatter is starting earlier and getting louder for Holland’s 2025 tulip season.

The nonprofit is releasing its event and ticket schedule this month after announcing the festival will begin on the first Friday in May rather than the first Saturday.

The 96th annual festival will take place Friday, May 2 through Sunday, May 11, 2025. According to Tulip Time’s press release, there will be activities and entertainment related to the festival on each day of the festival.

“We are very pleased to be able to start the festival a day earlier this year,” said Gwen Auwerda, managing director of Tulip Time. “We looked at all our dates and realized the tulips are here, our out-of-town guests are here, let’s just start the party early! That’s why we’re bringing some entertainment to the city on the first Friday of May this year.”

The 2025 festival celebrates 90 years of Dutch dance.

Dutch dancers wearing costumes that are historically accurate and hand-sewn by local seamstresses will take to the streets and “welcome” even more cloggers.

The program includes traditional Dutch dance performances, Dutch dance lessons and a Dutch lunch and style show.

New for the anniversary is De Familiedans or the family dance. According to Tulip Time’s press release, it is a Dutch dance experience designed specifically for parents and children from infancy to early elementary school age.

There is a growing number of community members interested in learning Dutch dances and taking part in the parades and performances.

Last year around 800 dancers performed during the festival.

If clogs – and lots of pairs of socks – aren’t your thing, there’s plenty more in the Tulip Time range.

You may also consider the wooden clog painting class, the wooden cutting board workshop, the fused glass tulips tutorial, or the wine and Dutch cheese pairing class, just to name a few.

The Netherlands’ Dutch heritage attracts more visitors every year as the beach town becomes a destination for all seasons.

The Dutch windmill de Zwaan almost broke another visitor record this season: more than 130,000 guests have visited since April.

Windmill Island remained open additional fall weekends to accommodate the influx of guests and will continue its new Christmas traditions in December.
