Lakes Football beats Red Devils to win on Friday | News, sports, jobs

IRONWOOD – With eight points in the fourth quarter, the Lake Linden-Hubbell Lakes football team won its third game of the season with a 16-14 victory over Ironwood on Friday night at Longyear Field in Ironwood.

The Red Devils scored first, but the Lakes responded with a touchdown in the second quarter.

Ironwood then regained the lead 14-8 in the third quarter, but the Lakes scored again in the fourth quarter with a two-pointer for the win.

Nate St. Onge led the Lakes in rushing with 25 carries for 130 yards, a touchdown and a two-point conversion.

Brady Axford managed 84 yards on the ground on 18 attempts. He also completed 2 of 6 through the air for 35 yards.

Josh Daavettila gained 28 yards on seven carries and scored a touchdown. He also had one catch for 11 yards.

Danny Mikus led the Lakes in receiving with one catch for 24 yards.

NEXT

The Lakes are 3-5 overall and play Ontonagon at home on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. Ironwood plays Gogebic on Friday.
