Vision Pro and AI can turn your home into a Star Trek-like holodeck

Vision Pro and AI can turn your home into a Star Trek-like holodeck

I may not have bought an Apple Vision Pro yet, but I’m still thinking about the spatial computer and the possibilities it promises. I also think the Vision Pro could be that The Computers to interface with advanced genAI tools as they become available.

I’m thinking about AI assistants that can process multimodal input, including real-time video and voice. Finally, Meta’s introduction of Meta AI in smart glasses shows that we are moving in this direction.

I’m looking forward to computer experiences with Vision Pro and AI to increase my productivity. One day, a setup like this could replace the MacBook I currently use. It will also impact entertainment, especially at home.

The following videos show how AI can transform your environment into anything you can imagine, similar to how a holodeck works Star Trekwith the help of Vision Pro. Maybe you want to turn your home into Minecraft, game of Thronesor a horror film setting. Everything is possible with AI.

Vision Pro’s advanced pass-through video lets you see your surroundings. You can place digital elements on top of your immediate reality, like apps and windows that appear on top of real objects. This is the big spatial computing experience Apple is building. One day we will have Apple AR glasses with similar capabilities.

But one Reddit user went a step further and created a Lifeskin app concept that lets you place a skin on everything around you using AI. It’s similar to customizing an iPhone screen with a wallpaper and theme to match. Or change the default Windows theme to something more personal.

jesser722 posted several videos on Reddit and other social media to show the concept in action. Changing your reality could be as easy as tapping an app icon on the Vision Pro.

The first video shows how you would change the look of everything in your home based on a theme. Do you want your kitchen to look like it came from the 50s? Choose the right menu. Horror mode is definitely my favorite, but it’s also a little hard to watch. I’m constantly waiting for something bad to happen, which proves the brilliance of this technology for entertainment.

The second video shows even more concepts based on popular TV shows like mad Men, game of Thrones, Walking deadAnd Star Trek. This mod also features themes based on TV shows Love Island And SNL or Microsoft’s Minecraft game.

I’ve always loved the holodeck Star Trekwhere you can experience a lifelike virtual environment using holograms. This technology does not yet exist in real life. But the concepts Reddit users jesser722 The devices created suggest that devices like the Vision Pro could have a big future for home entertainment.

Going back to the horror theme I mentioned earlier, I could easily see someone using Vision Pro’s capabilities to create immersive gaming experiences that let you take advantage of your real-world surroundings. You also need powerful AI that can generate content in real-time, as shown in these concepts. This would require massive processing capabilities, either on device or in the cloud.

In other words, it’ll be a while before we get there, but the concept videos are still impressive. To create these videos, the Redditor said that they used video-to-video AI programs. They probably shot the footage first with Vision Pro and then applied the themes shown in the final result.

Here’s one final clip showing a behind-the-scenes look at the second video above.
