Here is the Lakers’ roster to open the 2024-25 season

The Lakers enter the 2024-25 season with a lot of optimism under new head coach JJ Redick. After a disappointing 2023-24 season, the team turned to first-time head coach Darvin Ham to replace him.

The squad Redick will coach is, for better or worse, almost identical to the one Ham has struggled with for most of the season. Ultimately, the team only left Spencer Dinwiddie and Taurean Prince in free agency. They were replaced by freshmen Dalton Knecht and Bronny James.

Interestingly, the Lakers will also start the season without a vacant roster spot. In many previous years, the team had kept a roster spot open for an in-season addition under Rob Pelinka, vice president of basketball operations.

However, a new CBA and some pesky player options this offseason mean the Lakers are effectively fighting back, for better or worse. While in-season changes are certainly possible and perhaps even likely, this is the roster the Lakers will have at least to start the year.

The team also has three new two-way players compared to last year. Quincy Olivari was one of the stories of the preseason, while Christian Koloko is an intriguing player who has a high ceiling if he is released by the NBA.

With that said, here’s a look at their roster before the start of the regular season:

  1. Max Christie
  2. Anthony Davis
  3. Rui Hachimura
  4. Jaxson Hayes
  5. Jalen Hood-Schifino
  6. Bronny James
  7. LeBron James
  8. Dalton Knecht
  9. Maxwell Lewis
  10. Austin Reaves
  11. Cam Reddish
  12. D’Angelo Russell
  13. Jarred Vanderbilt
  14. Gabe Vincent
  15. Christian Wood
  16. Christian Koloko*
  17. Quincy Olivari*
  18. Armel Traore*
    *Bilateral contract

It would be a surprise if the Lakers kept this roster all season long. So stay tuned to the website for the latest squad moves and transactions.
