Booking.com has outlined nine key trends expected to shape travel in 2025, following a research study commissioned among 27,000 travelers in 33 countries. The study found that travelers are increasingly seeking unique experiences that deviate from traditional norms and lead to new ways of engaging with the world around them.

1. Noctourism: As space tourism continues to develop, travelers are increasingly interested in astro-tracking. 62% are considering visiting destinations with darker skies for unique experiences such as star bathing and constellation gazing, often due to fears of climate change and a desire to avoid crowded places during the day.

2. Passport to immortality: Travelers are increasingly placing importance on wellness and a healthy lifestyle. 60% expressed interest in longevity retreats that focus on long-term health improvements rather than temporary solutions.

3. AI = Alternative itineraries: The use of AI technology to make informed decisions and find authentic experiences is expected to increase in 2025. 41% of travelers expressed interest in using AI to create their trips.

4. Multigene Megatrips: 46% of travelers would rather spend money on the trip of a lifetime than leave an inheritance to their children, indicating a trend toward multi-generational travel.

5. Boyz II Zen: Men-only vacations that focus on wellness, self-expression and vulnerability are expected to increase, with nearly half of respondents supporting the idea.

6. Timeless adventures: The baby boomer generation is defying traditional expectations in favor of adventure: 23% are interested in adventure vacations, up from 10% in 2024.

7. Neuro-inclusive navigation: Neurodivergent travelers are looking for more immersive travel experiences tailored to their specific needs. AI tools that provide up-to-date information and suggestions for quieter rooms are in demand.

8. Vintage travel: Secondhand shopping and sustainable fashion are becoming increasingly popular among travelers, with 51% interested in purchasing their vacation wardrobe while traveling.

9. The goal escape: 34% expressed interest in visiting a location based on its airport, unique airport experiences and amenities, which are expected to contribute to travel destination selection in 2025.

Arjan Dijk, senior vice president and CMO at Booking.com, noted that the trends illustrate how travelers are trying to change and break travel norms to foster deeper connections with their destinations.
