The Scarecrow Festival at Shangri-La Botanical Gardens in Texas is one of my family’s annual fall traditions

I don’t know about you, but once September 1st rolls around, I’m ready to forego flip-flops, tank tops, and beach days and focus on all things fall. Fall in Texas is a wonderful time of year. If you’re like me and want to get a head start on your fall festivals, don’t even bother searching for “fall festivals near me” this year because I’ve rounded up seven of the best fall festivals in Texas for you. From pumpkin patches and corn mazes to Oktoberfest and the Renaissance Faire, these fall festivals in Texas will have you in the spirit of the season in no time.

1. Fright Fest at Six Flags Over Texas, Arlington

Kick off the spooky season with Fright Fest, one of the best fall events near Dallas/Fort Worth. From a walk through six different haunted houses to roller coaster rides in complete darkness, this popular event offers the ultimate spook factor. If you have little ones in tow, don’t worry – there’s a special day called BooFest that’s just for them and features not-so-spooky festivities. Fright Fest will take place from September 13th to November 3rd, 2024.

2. Fall in the Arboretum at the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden, Dallas

I can’t go a year without visiting the Arboretum in the fall. This spectacular harvest festival is known for its stunning pumpkin displays – there are over 100,000 pumpkins in total! This year’s theme is Texas Townand I couldn’t be more excited. It will be a journey through Texas history. The fun begins September 21st to November 3rd, 2024.

3rd Autumn Festival at Dewberry Farm, Brookshire

One of the best fall events near Houston awaits you at Dewberry Farm. This fall wonderland features over 40 attractions for all ages, including an 8-acre corn maze, farm animals, fall photo ops and more. Get ready for the fun starting September 7th and running until November 3rd, 2024. It’s going to be great fun!

4th Fall Festival at P-6 Farms, Montgomery

For about one month each year, P-6 Farms offers one of the best fall festivals near Houston with themed food and drink, a pick-your-own pumpkin patch, flower fields, games and many other festivities. Get ready for the celebrations starting September 28th and continuing until November 3rd, 2024. Bring the whole family for lots of fun!

5th Fredericksburg Oktoberfest, Fredericksburg

Fredericksburg is a charming hill country town with a rich German heritage that comes to life at the annual Oktoberfest. Visitors enjoy polka music and dancing, plenty of food and drinks, a special children’s area and much more. Grab a mug and shout “Cheers!” and have a great time from October 4th to 6th, 2024. Be sure to treat yourself to enough bratwurst.

6th Texas Renaissance Festival, Todd Mission

It’s always a good time at Texas RenFest! This popular event takes place about an hour northwest of Houston and features jousting, mead, turkey legs, live shows, beautiful costumes and much more. It claims to be “the largest Renaissance theme park in the country.” This way you will never run out of things to do. The themed weekends, ranging from pirates to heroes and villains, are always great fun. This is one of the best events in all of Texas and takes place on the weekends between October 12th and December 1st, 2024. Don’t forget to eat a turkey leg.

7th Texas Rose Festival, Tyler

The Texas Rose Festival has been held annually since 1933 and is one of the best fall events near Dallas/Fort Worth. Celebrations include a parade, the Queen’s Coronation and Queen’s Tea, and – of course – the country’s largest rose garden, which serves as the backdrop and inspiration for everything. You can take part in the celebrations from October 17th to 20th. 2024. If you’re there, everything will be in full swing!
