SAN MARCOS, Texas – In the final round of the Jim West Challenge, the Texas Tech women’s golf team shot a season-low 13-under-par 275 at Kissing Tree Golf Club on Monday. The performance moved the Red Raiders into fourth place alongside Ohio State and concluded the two-day event hosted by Texas State was hosted.

Lauren Zaretsky was ahead and finished in a tie for second place. In the final round, she shot a 7-under-par 66, setting a new season low in a single round. It was powered by five birdies and an eagle.

Her season-low 66 (-6) on Monday was preceded by a season-low first-round score when Zaretsky shot a 5-under-par 67. With a score of 2-over 74 in round two, the junior led the Red Raiders with her best 54-hole score of the season (9-under 207), securing her second place.

Maya Ambroziak (71), Klara Hurtova (68) and Kylee Loewe (70) joined Zaretsky to complete Monday’s quartet of countable points that formed the Red Raiders’ season-low total.

Ambroziak and Loewe both tied for 18th place, while Hurtova shot up the individual rankings and finished tied for 22nd.

Ambroziak had another round of consistent play, consisting of 16 straight pars to begin her final round on Monday. She hit her second-to-last hole but missed the last, finishing the final round with a 1-under-par score of 71. She racked up a total of 41 pars during the tournament en route to a 2-under-par score of 214.

Loewe achieved her first career top-20 finish, tying for 18th with a 54-hole 2-under-par 214, a career-best. After a score of 2-under 70 and a score of 2-over 74 in the first two rounds on Sunday, Loewe went for five birdies against three bogeys in the final round for her second 2-under-par 70 at the Jim West Challenge – both worst results of the season. In the final round of 70, the senior moved up five places on the leaderboard, achieving her best career result.

Hurtova finished the final round strongly, posting a 4-under-par 68 on Monday, her third below-par round in a final round this season. With five birdies, including four on the back nine, the sophomore moved up 13 spots from No. 35 after 36 holes to secure a spot in the top 25.

Monday’s rounds by Ambroziak, Hurtova, Loewe and Zaretsky led Texas Tech to a season-low 54-hole tournament score of 15 under par (849), led by Monday’s 13 under par 275, which led all 12 teams on Monday.

The Red Raiders will return to action for their final tournament of the fall season October 28-29 at Charles SchwabWomen’s Collegiate in Fort Worth, Texas.
