Special Nintendo Switch Online Play Test Information Leaked!

We discovered a while ago that there was a special “Playtest Program” for Nintendo Switch Online and that people could sign up for it if they met certain requirements. Many were curious as to what the “nature” of this playtest was, especially since Nintendo forced people to sign a non-disclosure agreement before they were allowed to play it. Of course, as we all know, non-disclosure agreements are legally binding contracts, so no one would dare reveal information… Oh wait, this is the gaming space, so they were leaked in record time! Various sources have picked up on it, including posting it on Twitter for everyone to see.

Apparently, the Nintendo Switch Online Playtest Program wasn’t about alleged Nintendo GameCube game ports, but rather an entirely new potential game that players had to play together. The focus was that together they tried to create a sprawling world, similar to an MMO mixed with a farming simulator. There was even a special “HUB area” where players could hang out and do other things like level up and get items before returning to the overworld.

For the record, we still don’t know what exactly this is about, but it’s possible that Nintendo wanted to run this test to clarify a few things before potentially doing something big with it. For example, it can be used as a base plate for a Switch 2 title.
