WARSAW, Poland (AP) — Polish musician and teacher Janusz Olejniczak, who played the piano parts in the Oscar-winning 2002 film “The Pianist,” has died at age 72. His family said in a statement that Olejniczak died of a heart attack on Sunday. His career began in 1970 when he was a prizewinner at the prestigious Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw. He also played contemporary music and appeared as an actor in a film about Chopin. His hands can be seen playing the piano in “The Pianist,” which won Oscars for director Roman Polanski and actor Adrien Brody.
