Long radio announcement from Plymouth ends unexpectedly

Kankakee Valley Broadcasting management and staff announced the loss of Tony “The Boss” Ross, longtime morning show host, general sales manager and sportscaster at WYMR MAX 98.3 FM.

Tony Ross began his radio career at WKVI Radio in Knox and worked at WTCA in Plymouth for about 20 years. He moved to MAX 98.3 FM when the frequency went on the air in February 2015 and has been here ever since. He dedicated himself to local radio.

Tony was a big part of the community and involved in many aspects. Above all, he enjoyed the many hours he spent collecting statistics on the variety of sports games he would broadcast, so that nothing was left out when recording an athlete’s performances.

He was a man of faith, did what he could for his family and friends and was a stranger to no one.

Tony’s presence will be missed by his family, friends, colleagues and community members both on the broadcast and in the press box.

The funeral preparations are currently pending.
