Nonprofit organization provides free lodging for traveling cancer patients

HOUSTON, Texas – Due to the city’s reputation as a top destination for cancer treatment, many patients travel from across the country to receive specialized treatment. The financial burden of accommodation can increase their stress.

The American Cancer Society’s Hope Lodge provides free housing for those seeking treatment in Houston and their caregivers. This allows patients to focus on their recovery.

Holly is diagnosed with breast cancer and lives at the lodge. “Just having a place to stay takes a lot of stress away,” Holly said. “It just makes you happier when you don’t have to worry every day.”
