On October 11th, indie pop duo Jack & Jack released “Thought I Was Dead (Home Live Sessions)”, a more instrumental version of their song “Thought I Was Dead” from their album Home that was published at the beginning of March this year. The duo, made up of best friends Jack Gilinsky and Jack Johnson, effectively produced a live version of one of their strongest songs, showcasing their creative lyricism.

Their latest single begins with strong guitar sounds and eventually adds more elements like drums and bass, layering as the song progresses to create an immersive experience. Jack & Jack’s artistry comes to life in this stripped down version as their ability to harmonize is highlighted. It’s clear why this is one of their best songs as it offers a nice twist that allows them to easily incorporate Spanish into the pre-chorus. The rap portion of the song will hit listeners harder in this version, especially lyrics like “I heard that life is a poem, so I tried to arrange my sonnet / But I’m staring at all these black lines.” Parade.”

However, if you prefer a more bass-heavy song then check out the original version of “Thought I Was Dead” as it has an intense, pulsating beat. For an even better listening experience, it is a joy to listen to the home live session directly before the original as it is a smooth transition.

Jack & Jack recently returned to their independent roots after breaking free from major label deals following their three-year hiatus.
