Killer of dead child arrested in Mississippi: Tampa police

TAMPA, Fla. – A 19-year-old woman was recently arrested and charged in the death of an infant whose body was found at the University of Tampa on April 28, according to a news release from Tampa Police.

The agency worked with the U.S. Marshals Task Force to arrest Brianna Moore on Friday in Quitman, Mississippi.

Moore was charged with aggravated involuntary manslaughter of a child, child neglect resulting in serious bodily injury, failure to report death and unlawful storage of human remains, police said.

She is being held at the Lauderdale County Jail in Mississippi, awaiting extradition to Tampa.

After campus security staff were alerted to a possible miscarriage, they found the body of the baby, later identified as Moore’s child.

An autopsy revealed that the child died as a result of suffocation and multiple rib fractures. Her death was ruled a homicide, police said.
