Like the house’s famous tweed suits, quilted handbags and two-tone slingbacks, a decorative chain belt is one of Chanel’s trademarks. The first models were designed by founder Coco Chanel in the 1930s, but it wasn’t until Karl Lagerfeld sent his flashy versions down the catwalk in the ’90s that they entered the fashion hall of fame – and popular culture.

Supermodels like Linda Evangelista, Naomi Campbell, Kate Moss and Claudia Schiffer showed off shiny waist jewelry on the runway, draped over everything from evening dresses and bodysuits to shorts.

The accessory is reinterpreted every season and never goes out of style: Rihanna rocked a multichain version in her 2012 video for her hit song “Pour It Up” and recently wore a vintage version with ripped blue jeans for her 2022 maternity photos.

It works like clockwork Maison has released a new design to collect this season. Chanel’s limited edition sautoir The yellow gold-plated steel belt features a working Première watch, the company’s first timepiece.

The octagonal case with an elegant black lacquer dial is beveled and shaped like a N°5 perfume bottle – one of the most iconic silhouettes in the world of fragrance – while the slender chain is interwoven with leather. Chanel is always ahead of its time.
