In men’s tennis, three players are in the semifinals of the ITA Texas Regionals

Waco, Texas – Texas Men’s Tennis advanced two singles players and a doubles pair to the semifinals of the ITA Texas Regional Championships on Sunday at the Hurd Tennis Center in Waco.

Junior No. 29 Jonah Braswell and freshmen Timo Legout advanced in singles, while the duo of Legout and Sophomore Lucas Brown did this in doubles.

In singles, Braswell defeated No. 61 seed Devin Badenhorst of Baylor, 6-2, 6-2, and Legout defeated No. 9-16 seed Marko Miladinovic, also of Baylor, 6-0, 6-3. The next game is Monday at noon CT, with Braswell taking on No. 17 seed JC Roddick of Texas A&M and Legout taking on No. 49 seed Zsombor Velcz of Baylor. Velcz advanced to the semifinals by defeating #124 Brown 6-3, 6-3.

In doubles, two Longhorn pairs played two games on Sunday. Fourth-seeded Legout and Brown won a round-of-16 tiebreaker over Petro Kuzmenok and Santiago Navarro of Rice 8-7 (4) before defeating 9-16 seeds Louis Bowden and Quintan Van Wijk of Baylor 8-4 . in the quarterfinals. Braswell and newbie Evan Burnett He then claimed an 8-5 victory over Emir Sendogan and Joshua Mandelbaum of Rice in the round of 16 before losing by the same score to three seeds Arthus de la Bassetiere and Kabeer Kapasi, also of Rice, in the quarterfinals.

Legout and Brown next face 9-16 seeds Tiago Torres and Miguel Alonso of UTSA on Monday at 10 a.m. CT.
