We reported last week that Netafim was launching a corporate partnership program with companies like Google and Keurig Dr. Pepper give farmers money to buy drip irrigation. But the question I had for Netafim North America President Mike Hemman was: Why do they want to do this? What’s in it for them?

Hemman… “A lot of them have corporate sustainability goals, and a lot of those goals are about water. So when we think about companies that may be in the technology space, they use a lot of water to cool their server farms. They may not necessarily be able to achieve their water improvement goals by just focusing on touchless faucets or something similar. That’s why they’re looking for investment opportunities.”

According to Hemman, eligibility for these incentives depends primarily on location.

Hemman… “Typically they look for farmers in the region where they operate and typically in a particular watershed or over a particular aquifer. There is a Farmer Hub on our website that explains the Corporate Partnership Program. And there’s a link there where you can get in touch with our agronomy team and see if we can connect you with one of these companies.”
