CNN reporter reacts to Trump’s Palmer tribute

Political correspondent Steve Contorno reported live from a rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday, where the former president delivered a bizarre 10-minute tribute to golf legend Arnold Palmer as part of his 90-minute speech. Trump recalled his friendship with Palmer, who died in 2016.

While rally attendees laughed heartily at his remarks, journalists had a hard time putting it all together — especially after Trump made an odd twist about Palmer’s body parts and his hair care habits.

“Trump’s campaign shows us that his appearance today and the speech he gives mark the beginning of his closing argument to voters in the next few weeks,” said Contorno, who was hired to broadcast the rally live. “He began with a detailed story about Latrobe, Pennsylvania native Arnold Palmer, including – and I’m not making this up – a description of the Hall of Fame golfer in the men’s room, in the locker room and what he looked like in the shower.” said the reporter, according to POST.

“And this is presidential material? Trump is simply what he always was: rude. He has no growth strategies and thinks putting people down is an admirable trait,” one user commented. “Trump’s brain is melted at this point… and yet about 40 million US voters could vote for him,” attacked another user. “You know it’s most bizarre when reporters can’t find the words to describe it…lol,” a third added. “The man dies of laughter; Please just leave him,” remarked a fourth. “Trump has no filter and people love him because he is who he is and doesn’t pretend to be something he’s not. He’s real!”

What did Trump say about Arnold Palmer?

Trump is actively campaigning in key states, including Pennsylvania. At a MAGA rally on Saturday, communications strategist TJ Adams-Falconer noted that Trump spoke for 15 minutes and concluded his speech with a controversial anecdote about the size of Arnold Palmer’s genitals.

The ex-president called Palmer “a total dude” and talked about things from the late golfer’s life, like how he showered with other pros and they said, “Oh my God, that’s unbelievable.” Trump mentioned that Put it this way, he didn’t elaborate because he didn’t want to offend the “highly cultured” ladies in the crowd.
