Live updates on Israel’s Hezbollah war: Israel says it will target Hezbollah’s financial arm and announces impending attacks in Lebanon

The ongoing conflict between Israel and Hezbollah escalated on Saturday after Lebanese drones attacked Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s home in Caesarea. “A UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) was launched towards the Prime Minister’s residence in Caesarea. The prime minister and his wife were not at the scene and there were no injuries in the incident,” the Israeli PMO said in a statement.

The prime minister responded by saying that Iran had made a “bitter mistake” by trying to assassinate him.

Meanwhile, Israeli airstrikes targeted Hezbollah strongholds in Lebanon, causing significant damage and casualties, including the death of a mayor of the city of Nabatiyeh. Israel’s military also carried out an attack on the Syrian port city of Latakia, which resulted in fires. Syrian air defenses responded, but the extent of the damage remains unclear.

In Gaza, under pressure from the United States, Israel allowed 50 aid trucks to enter the northern Gaza Strip from Jordan and deliver food, water and medical supplies. However, aid groups report that this is not enough to meet urgent needs, particularly as Israel has tightened its siege in the northern Gaza Strip. Meanwhile, Qatar said there had been no active ceasefire negotiations in the last three to four weeks, indicating a lack of progress in de-escalation.

The Pentagon confirmed that US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin spoke with Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant about ongoing operations and humanitarian relief efforts. Despite international calls for restraint, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu has rejected efforts for a ceasefire and maintained a firm stance in the conflict.
