Suspect in Crawford County shooting found with fatal ‘self-inflicted’ gunshot wound

On Sunday, the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) announced its investigation into a shooting that left the victim hospitalized and the suspect later found with a fatal “self-inflicted” gunshot wound.

In a press release from Sheriff Lewis Walker, CCSO officers responded to a call about a person shot on Marble Lane at approximately 10:23 a.m. on Saturday, October 19th. Upon arrival, officers found 25-year-old Makayla Hollingshed shot. According to CCSO, Hollingshed was taken to a local hospital for treatment and is stable.

CCSO identified the suspect in the shooting as 31-year-old Tommie Lee Alexander, who fled the scene. According to CCSO, officers followed a lead where they discovered Alexander dead from an “apparent self-inflicted” gunshot wound later that same day on Fairplay Hill Road, about a mile and a half from the first shooting.
