The day ended early for Trent Williams in the San Francisco 49ers’ Week 7 game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

The left tackle was ejected late in the fourth quarter after an argument with Chiefs safety Bryan Cook. Williams hit Cook directly, drawing the attention of the referees.

Cook appeared to throw a quick punch at Williams before the 36-year-old responded with a booming punch. The Chiefs were winning 28-12 as Williams’ night came to an end.

Cook was not punished for his role in the incident.

As he left the stadium, the left tackle stopped to sign an autograph for a young fan.

Williams is a key figure in the 49ers’ offense, which has already seen wide receivers Brandon Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel leave the game. He missed a 49ers touchdown drive, but San Francisco ultimately lost 28-18 and moved to 3-4 on the season.

Williams is an 11-time Pro Bowler and just restructured his contract with San Francisco in the offseason. He has started every game for the 49ers in 2024.
