The rapid warming trend is expected to return to the desert southwest this week – KYMA

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) – After a period of cooler temperatures due to a low pressure system, the region is expected to warm again as high pressure builds up again early this week.

The National Weather Service (NWS) is forecasting a rapid warming trend beginning Monday, with daily highs in Yuma and other low-elevation desert areas rising back into the 90s by Tuesday.

Temperatures could reach the mid to upper 90s by Wednesday and are expected to remain at that level through the weekend.

Sunday will be the last day with widespread temperatures near 100 degrees. Starting Monday, only a few locations may reach triple digits as a weak weather system leads to higher humidity across the region.

Humidity is expected to rise from the current 5-10% on Sunday afternoon to 8-15% on Monday. Humidity will recover significantly overnight, with some parts of Yuma and Imperial Counties experiencing levels as high as 50-70% as the system moves through.

Windy conditions are expected through Sunday evening, particularly in Imperial County.

The warming trend is expected to continue throughout the week, bringing typical desert weather back to the region.

Stay tuned for further updates on the weekly forecast and any upcoming significant weather changes.
