The warming trend returns this week as rain takes a back seat

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – Tonight: Cooler temperatures return this evening as lows will be in the upper 40s. Skies will remain clear overnight and into the start of your Monday.

Monday: Keep the light jacket with you as you head out the door on Monday morning as temperatures will range from the upper 40s to the lower 50s. However, there will be a quick warm-up after sunrise as highs will be in the low 80s. It will cool down in the evening, but not quite as much as previous nights, with temperatures bottoming out in the 50s.

Extended Forecast: Above-average temperatures continue for much of this week, with highs in the upper 80s for much of the week. We are still looking for rain as it continues to look less likely for much of the week and into next weekend. There may be a small chance of an isolated shower the following week, but this is still a possibility. So be sure to keep an eye on the latest rain chances throughout the week. Hurricane Oscar continues to move in the Caribbean towards Cuba, but will move back out to sea in the next few days. Things will remain calm in the rest of the tropics for the time being.
