East Bladen plays Pamlico in volleyball playoffs –

East Bladen qualified for the NC High School Athletic Association 1A volleyball playoffs, which were announced Sunday.

West Bladen narrowly missed the chance to get into the 2A playoffs. The Knights finished third in the Southeastern Athletic Conference at 9-11 with a record of 5-5. West Bladen had a Rating Percentage Index (RPI) of 0.44966, ranking 33rd among 2A East schools. The top 32 teams qualified for the playoffs.

East Bladen is a No. 31 seed and is scheduled to play No. 2 Pamlico County on Tuesday. The winner will play No. 15 Cape Hatteras and No. 18 Wake Prep in Thursday’s second round.

The Eagles (8-10 overall, 5-7 Waccamaw 1A/2A Conference) finished fourth in league play and were second to East Columbus among the four 1A schools.

Pamlico County won the Coastal Plains 1A/2A Conference with a record of 11-0. The Bayboro-based Hurricnaes are 20-3 overall. Pamlico’s losses came against No. 14 seed Croatia in the 3A East and twice against No. 2 seed West Carteret in the 3A East.
