The true crime special “Serial Killer Capital: Los Angeles” premieres

The City of Angels has a hellish side, as Oxygen’s new true crime documentary special proves Serial Killer Capital: Los Angeles. The two-hour special premieres tonight, October 20th at 7pm Eastern Time, and examines a series of brutal murders that wreaked havoc in South Los Angeles from the 1980s to the early 2000s.

“The City of Angels became a city of terror when a serial killer that authorities dubbed the “Southside Slayer” ravaged the community. “The bodies of women were discovered one by one – in alleys, on playgrounds and even on the steps of an elementary school,” Oxygen’s synopsis for the special reads. “The investigators’ worst fears were confirmed when, after years of working on the cases, they discovered that there was not just one Southside Slayer, but four different serial killers operating in the same location at the same time,” a realization that caused a wave of panic and confusion in the city and among the police.
