Leaked US information about Israeli attack plans against Iran has surfaced online

The US is investigating the leak of the top secret documents, CNN reports, with one official calling the leak “deeply concerning.”

Secret US intelligence documents detailing Israel’s alleged preparations for a possible attack on Iran have surfaced online, amid speculation of an attack in response to a ballistic missile strike against Israel on October 1.

The documents, dated October 15 and 16, began circulating on Friday after being shared on Telegram Spectators in the Middle East. The leaks reportedly came from a source within the US intelligence community.

One of the documents, reportedly compiled by the Defense Ministry’s National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, indicates that Israel’s plans include relocating munitions.

“The Israeli Air Force continued air-launched ballistic missile (ALBM) handling, covered UAV operations, and conducted a second Large Force Use Exercise (LFE) on October 15-16, 2024, according to image analysis,” the document said .

It was noted that since October 8, the Israeli Air Force has dispatched at least 16 Golden Horizon ALBMs and more than 40 IS02 (Rocks) ALBMs. The document states that ALBM clearance at Hatzerim airfield continued from October 16.

Another document says it comes from the National Security Agency and describes Israeli Air Force exercises with air-to-surface missiles, which are also believed to be in preparation for an attack on Iran.

Accordingly, the USA is investigating the leak of the top secret documents CNNin which three people familiar with the matter were quoted. A source confirmed the authenticity of the documents. A U.S. official called the leak “deeply concerning.” CNN reported.

It was also reported that a US official said an investigation was underway to determine who had access to the alleged Pentagon document. Such a leak would automatically trigger an investigation involving the FBI as well as the Pentagon and US intelligence agencies, he said CNN.

The leak could therefore be an attempt to disrupt the Israeli operation Axios News website.

US President Joe Biden said on Friday he knew how and when Israel would carry out its attack on Iran, while Tehran warned it would respond “firmly”.

Asked by reporters whether he had a “good understanding” of what Israel’s response to Iran’s Oct. 1 ballistic missile attack would entail and when it would take place, Biden replied succinctly: “Yes and yes .”

Biden has previously urged Israel not to attack Iran’s oil and nuclear facilities – attacks that could dramatically escalate the worsening conflict.

Iran said it carried out the ballistic attack in retaliation for the assassination of the former Hamas political leader in Tehran in July and the assassination of Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah in Beirut last month

Nearly 200 rockets were fired in the volley, hitting several locations in Israel, including a military facility, but causing no deaths.

Gunfights between Tel Aviv and Tehran escalated this year after Israel bombed the Iranian embassy in Syria on April 1, killing senior military officials. Iran responded to this attack two weeks later by launching hundreds of drones and ballistic missiles into Israel. – AA
