Schools in Maroa-Forsyth are raising money to support victims of domestic violence

MACON COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) – Maroa-Forsyth High School is hosting a fundraiser to show support for victims of domestic violence.

According to Maroa-Forsyth High School’s Facebook page, several students in the district were “negatively impacted by a traumatic domestic violence event” several weeks ago.

To support the family and the mother’s recovery and to recognize Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the school will distribute purple wristbands on Friday for students and staff to wear.

The school said donations will also be accepted at this time. Donations go directly to the family and any amount is welcome.

The school said a limited number of wristbands will initially be available for students and staff. However, they suggest that community members interested in a bracelet call the school office on Friday to see if there are any extras.
