The annual Sock Out Cancer Concert raises money for non-medical expenses

BINGHAMTON (WBNG) – The annual Sock Out Cancer Concert took place Saturday evening at the Broome County Forum Theater.

The event gave participants an evening full of music, performed by artists from near and far.

The concert featured Kevin Chalfant of Journey Experience and local contestant “The Voice” singer Alyssa Crosby.

All proceeds from the event went toward non-medical expenses for local patients.

Community members came to support this cause.

“It shows you something about this community and how important it is that we all support each other,” said Kirk Gravley, president and CEO of Security Mutual Life Insurance. “The people who support us, we support them and there is a great common bond between everyone. It’s nice to see and people can appreciate it because so many people are affected by cancer.”

Gravley said the annual event has raised $1.6 million for the foundation since it began in 2017.
