What went wrong for No. 1 Texas in a mistake-filled loss at Georgia

Let’s start with mentality. In our Longhorns Wire Staff predictions, we mentioned that our biggest fear heading into this game was Georgia having to play desperate. While Texas hoped to continue the good times.

When watching playoff series in the NHL, MLB or NBA, desperation can be a real weapon. Teams facing elimination play differently. You MUST win.

Georgia HAD to win. A second loss tonight, with more tough games on the schedule, could have essentially eliminated the Bulldogs.

If Texas were truly THE dominant team in college football this year, they would overcome Georgia’s desperation and win their individual games en route to a big game win.

That didn’t happen. Now it’s hard to know what kind of team Texas has. Talented? Yes. Dominant? No. Texas is just one of many contenders for the crown. It’s now Texas that has little room for error.
