The controversy sparked by “Cop Killer” made Body Count a lot of money – most of which they had to spend on lawyers

The huge hit from Body Count Cop killer brought the band wide exposure – but frontman Ice-T says the song’s proceeds were largely spent on lawyers to fend off the controversy.

The track was released on Body Count’s self-titled debut album in 1992 and brought a world of heat to Ice-T and his bandmates. Usually such widespread controversy results in pockets full of cash. However, this is not the case with Body Count.
