Rosie O’Donnell breaks her silence after her daughter was arrested for child neglect and drug possession

Rosie O’Donnell released a statement when her daughter Chelsea was arrested in Wisconsin on October 14th.

The 62-year-old media personality, whose son Blake married in August, posted a photo of Chelsea, 27, and her son Atlas, 1, on Instagram on Saturday.

O’Donnell’s eldest daughter was charged with child neglect after police found her 11-month-old son in a home full of meth pipes, feces and trash.

In the caption to her followers, she said: “Chelsea is in the news today – this is a photo from a better time – here is the family comment:

“Sadly this is nothing new for our family – Chelsea has struggled with drug addiction for a decade – we all hope she finds a way out of this deadly disease.”

The longtime comedian added a broken heart emoji and “#love #alanon 10/19/24.”

Chelsea was charged with four felonies: operating a drug trafficking operation, child neglect, possession of meth and possession of THC.

Police were called to her home in Marinette, Wisconsin by Chelsea herself on September 10, court documents obtained by In Touch revealed.

Emergency dispatchers reported hearing an argument in the background and a woman telling someone to “get the fuck away from her.”

When police arrived, Chelsea reportedly tried to downplay the situation and insisted everything was fine, before later admitting that she and boyfriend Jacob Nelund had gotten into an argument.

“I tried to ask her more questions and you could tell Chelsea wasn’t being honest at all. “This was a repeat of what happened a few weeks earlier when I was at her house for a similar incident,” a police officer wrote in a report.

Among the items in her home, officers found a meth pipe with residue inside.

A box of hypodermic needles was allegedly found in the child’s room.

O’Donnell has had a turbulent relationship with Chelsea over the years.

She and her ex-wife Kelli Carpenter adopted Chelsea when she was a baby. She left home in 2016 at the age of 18 and moved to Wisconsin to be close to her birth mother.

“Chelsea is mentally ill,” Rosie told the Daily Mail in 2017. “[She] spent most of her life in and out of hospitals. Born addicted to heroin. She has had a hard journey. She is very sick. She is incapable of either truth or reason.’

She has four children: daughter Skylar Rose (five), Riley (three), Avery Lynn (two) and Atlas.
