The Wichita auto repair shop provides free services to single mothers and widows

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – Mechanics at a Wichita repair shop spent their Saturday giving back to the community.

Christian Brothers Automotive, located on W 29th St N, held its National Service Day and offered free maintenance to single mothers and widows. Mechanics carried out services such as oil changes, wiper blade inspections and minor repairs on around 150 vehicles.

Christian Brothers franchise owner Jesse Schemm said it’s all about fulfilling his calling to help people in need.

“Regular maintenance is one of the cheapest and easiest things you can do to keep your car on the road. If nothing else happens, we can give these ladies a fresh oil change for a year and give them a fresh start here before winter.” “And help can identify some of the needs that might leave them on the side of the road,” Schemm said.

Some of the parts and materials used in the repairs were donated by Wichita-area organizations.

Nearly 300 Christian Brothers locations across the country participated in the National Service Day event.
