The latest shooting victim doesn’t want Joliet police to solve his crime

JOLIET — While most of the city was fast asleep in bed, the night shift of the Joliet Police Department and Joliet Fire Department responded to a shooting on the east side.

Joliet’s most recent shooting occurred around 2:20 a.m. Saturday in the 300 block of Wilson Avenue, according to police spokesman Dwayne English.

Officers located a 29-year-old man who had suffered a gunshot wound to his right leg.

Officers provided medical aid to the victim until Joliet Fire Department paramedics arrived. The man was taken to Silver Cross Hospital by the Joliet Fire Department. The injury was not considered life-threatening.

However, the victim refused to cooperate and give officers any further information about this shooting. It is believed the victim was near a vehicle when he was shot. The vehicle was hit by the shots. Officers conducted a canvass of the area and found spent bullet casings at the scene.
