Warm this weekend, cool trend next week

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – Above average temperatures will continue through the weekend.

Unusually warm over the weekend

Lows this evening will be in the mid to upper 40s under mostly clear skies. Tomorrow is the warmest day we’ll have in some time as most of eastern Iowa hits the 80s and skies are mostly sunny.

It will be warm again on Monday, followed by a cooling trend

High temperatures on Monday will reach the upper 70s and lower 80s under mostly sunny skies. There is a slight chance of rain late Monday night into early Tuesday morning as a disturbance spreads from the Rocky Mountains across the plains. Any shower activity we see is expected to be scattered and light.

Any showers will have disappeared by Tuesday afternoon and the rest of next week will remain dry. Temperatures will cool as the week progresses, with highs reaching lows to the mid 60s in the second half of the week. Although it is cooler than ours, it is still warmer than average.

We’ll stay warm and dry all weekend. Our only chance of rain is a light rain early Tuesday morning then we’ll be dry and cooler next week.
