Lake Travis Fire Rescue responds to a gas leak on FM 620 after the line was damaged

Lake Travis Fire Rescue continues to repair a gas leak Saturday after a construction crew hit an 8-inch gas line Friday morning.

At around 11:45 a.m., crews posted on social media that this happened at 620 Farm to Market and 2222 Ranch Road.

The northbound lanes were closed at the 6400 block of 620.

In an update at 1:35 p.m., LTFR said officers were expected to be released from the scene in an hour after working through the night on repairs to prevent a loss of natural gas service to surrounding communities. The emergency services were only on site for safety reasons.

Texas Gas Service said they are working with TxDOT on a reopening plan, such as potentially opening the southbound lanes on FM 620 heading toward Steiner Ranch. Texas Gas officials expect repairs to be completed Saturday evening.

The Comanche Trail is open and can be used as an alternative route.

Texas Gas has assumed the role of Incident Command. They do not have a time frame for when the bypass to RR 2222 will reopen at the intersection of FM 620.
