Kansas breaks its losing streak and gets its first conference win of the year

KANSAS CITY, MO. (WIBW) – Kansas breaks its five-game losing streak and earns its first conference win of the season with a 42-14 win over Houston.

The Jayhawks got off to a hot start as Jalon Daniels found tight end Jared Casey for the 2-yard touchdown that gave Kansas a 7-0 lead.

Kansas will take a 14-0 lead at the end of the first quarter on a 48-yard pass from Daniels to Quentin Skinner.

The Jayhawks won’t stop there, as Devin Neal will extend the lead to 21-0 with a 2-yard touchdown.

Houston added a touchdown, but the Jayhawks answered right back with another touchdown from Daniels to Casey to make it 28-7.

Houston adds another touchdown before halftime to make it 28-14 at halftime.

The Jayhawks would score two more points in the fourth quarter, with Daniels and Neal both finding the end zone, giving Kansas its first conference win of the year.

Daniels was 16/21 for 247 yards and 3 touchdowns to go, along with 7 carries for 58 yards and a score. Neal had 17 carries for 108 yards and 2 touchdowns.

The Jayhawks will look to carry this game over to next week when they travel to Manhattan to take on the Wildcats on Saturday, October 26th.
