Women’s swimming and diving opens 2024-25 season with win over Scranton

SCRANTON, Pa. – The Ithaca College women’s swimming and diving team had an outstanding performance in its season-opening doubleheader over the University of Scranton on Saturday afternoon. The Bombers were on the road, winning every relay race as well as several outstanding individual performances in a 207-92 victory.

Both Sydney Kohler And Samantha Bender had outstanding individual performances and won two events each. Koehler won the 200-yard breaststroke ahead of his teammate Kathleen Papiernik with times of 2:32.03 and 2:36.21 respectively. The first-grader would also win the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:09.50. Samantha Bender won the 200-yard backstroke with a final time of 2:10.94, winning the event by four seconds over a Royals swimmer. She also won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:00.80.

In diving, Kailee Payne swept both the 1-meter and 3-meter dashes, with the Bombers finishing 1-2-3 in each contest.
