FOOTBALL

NFL: Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Tyson Campbell was placed on injured reserve ahead of Sunday’s game against the New England Patriots at Wembley Stadium.

The Jaguars’ secondary struggled without Campbell, who missed the last five games with a hamstring injury.

Campbell signed a four-year, $76.5 million contract extension before training camp and played well in the season opener.

Also on Saturday, the Jags signed running back Jake Funk and defensive end Joe Gaziano to the active roster.

• The Tennessee Titans placed wide receiver Treylon Burks on injured reserve and promoted quarterback Trevor Siemian from the practice squad, putting Will Levis’ status against Buffalo in question.

Coach Brian Callahan hinted Friday that injured reserve was Burks’ likely destination after the 18th overall pick in the 2022 draft suffered a knee injury in practice this week. Callahan said Burks would “miss some time no matter what.”

The Titans (1-4) had Levis listed as questionable after the second-year quarterback was limited at practice on Friday. Levis is dealing with a sprained cruciate ligament in his right throwing shoulder that he suffered on September 30th. He threw for just 95 yards in last week’s loss to Indianapolis.

ICE HOCKEY

NHL: Drake Batherson scored two goals and an assist and the Ottawa Senators handed Tampa Bay its first loss of the season with a 5-4 win in Ottawa, Ontario.

Josh Norris, Brady Tkachuk and Noah Gregor also scored for Ottawa (3-2-0), and Anton Forsberg made 25 saves. Jake Sanderson collected three assists.

FOOTBALL

GERMANY: Harry Kane ended his brief goal drought with a hat trick to help Bayern Munich beat Stuttgart 4-0 in the Bundesliga.

Kane, who had not scored in four games – three for Bayern and one for England – missed good chances before finally ending his drought with a long-range shot in the 57th minute.

ENGLAND: Arsenal missed the chance to go top of the Premier League and suffered a shock 2-0 defeat to Bournemouth.

Meanwhile, Manchester United picked up only their third league win with a 2-1 win against Brentford.

Fourth-placed Aston Villa extended their lead at the top of the table and moved within a point of first-placed Liverpool and level with Arsenal after a 3-1 win against Fulham. Brighton are three points off the pace after a 1-0 win at Newcastle.

CAR RACING

FORMULA ONE: Red Bull driver Max Verstappen won the United States Grand Prix sprint race in Austin, Texas, earning his first victory ever in nearly four months. He also prevented Lando Norris from McLaren from losing his lead in the Formula 1 season championship.

Norris kept Verstappen in sight for 18 of 19 laps at the Circuit of the Americas after starting from fourth to second on the grid. But Norris made a costly mistake in the first corner of the final lap, allowing Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz to slip into second place.

Third place instead of second cost Norris a crucial point in the title fight. He is now 54 points behind Verstappen with six Grand Prix races and two sprint races before the end of the season.
