Photo Gallery: Bowen’s Wharf Seafood Festival returns for its 33rd year

The 33rd annual Bowen’s Wharf Seafood Festival is in full swing this weekend at Bowen’s Wharf in Newport. Visitors flock to the historic wharf to enjoy the “harvest of the sea” under beautiful, sunny skies.

The festival takes place on Saturdays and Sundays from 11am to 6pm and features a delicious selection of fresh local seafood. Foodies can indulge in fish tacos, lobster rolls, stuffies, chowder, fried calamari, mussels and oysters. To top it all off, there are unique cocktails and cold beers on tap.

The event isn’t just about the food – it’s also a feast for the ears. Live bands play throughout the weekend, covering genres from folk and surf rock to Caribbean and blues. As the organizers put it, “These bands will get your feet moving!”

The best thing: entry to the festival is free. You only pay for the food and drinks you want to try. And don’t worry about the weather – the event takes place whatever the weather, rain or shine, and tents will be set up if necessary to keep everyone dry.

Saturday’s music program included The Good Living Band from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., followed by Angelus Hall from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. On Sunday there are performances by Randy Robbins, Morgan Treni & The Landscapes and The Groove Merchants.

So if you’re in the Newport area this weekend, make your way to Bowen’s Wharf and enjoy great seafood, cool music and a fun atmosphere. It’s the perfect way to spend an autumn day by the sea.
