NCAA Football: Marine at Air Force
USATSI

CBS Sports Network’s ongoing coverage of the 2024 college football season includes three games on Saturday after a series of midweek games to kick things off.

Saturday’s games start early with an exciting lunchtime contest that pits Wake Forest against a surging UConn team that is just a few wins away from making a bowl game appearance for the second time in three years under coach Jim Mora. Immediately after, Navy takes the field as an AP ranked for the first time since 2019 as the Midshipmen host Charlotte in American Athletic Conference play.

The Mountain West is back in action with a nightcap on Saturday. Air Force looks to get its season back on track when it hosts Colorado State at Falcon Stadium at 8 p.m. ET.

CBS Sports Network will be with you every step of the way once Week 8 games begin. In the meantime, you can find out more about each match by viewing information, storylines, betting odds and more.

Ranked Navy is real and wonderful. The Midshipmen have absolutely bombarded their opponents this season and they score on both sides of the ball. However, the offense was particularly impressive under new coordinator Drew Cronic. Navy has scored at least 34 points in every game so far. It’s already surpassed its point total for the entire 2023 season, and quarterback Blake Horvath is hurting teams’ arms and legs. Now the Mids face an interesting test against a Charlotte team that has caused a few surprises this season with a 2-0 start to American Athletic Conference play.

Colorado State in the Air Force

Date: Saturday, Oct. 19 | Time: 8 p.m
Location: Falcon Stadium – Air Force Academy, Colorado

Spread: Colorado State -7.5 | Will the Rams cover? Check out SportsLine’s Week 8 predictions here

Colorado State got back on track in Week 7 with a 31-24 win over San Jose State. The Rams were 1-3 against FBS opponents prior to this win. Meanwhile, the Air Force is still looking for a lifeline. The Falcons – one of the youngest teams in college football – are on the rise under veteran coach Troy Calhoun. They suffered a terrible 52-37 loss to New Mexico in Week 7, dropping them to 1-5 on the year and 0-3 in Mountain West play. The Falcons are now 0-9 in their last nine regular season games against FBS opponents.
