The Kansas City Chiefs were well represented at the Blue Valley vs. Blue Valley West High School football game on Friday night.

Patrick Mahomes, Chris Jones and Andy Reid were among the Chiefs in the stands to support the sons of offensive coordinator Matt Nagy and defensive coach Dave Merritt, who were playing against each other.

Matt’s son Tate Nagy is the Jaguars’ starting quarterback. Dawson Merritt lined up against Matt at linebacker for Blue Valley.

Tate did his best Mahomes impression with the two-time MVP in the stands. Blue Valley took a 34-28 lead with a late touchdown, but its attempt at an extra point was blocked. The Jaguars got the ball back at their own 20-yard line and had to cover 80 yards with 44 seconds left.

After an incompletion on first down, Blue Valley West gained 79 yards on its next four plays. The drive included completions of 45 yards and 19 yards. Nagy’s touchdown pass to Tyler Peterson tied the game and Joey Svoboda scored the extra point for a 35-34 win.

The Chiefs squad enjoyed their final night in Kansas City before flying to the Bay Area on Saturday. They face the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday at Levi’s Stadium in a rematch of Super Bowl 58, which the Chiefs won 25-22 in overtime.
