Doug Davidson appeals to Y&R over Paul’s absence in a tweet to General Hospital star Kin Shriner

Former Y&R star Doug Davidson has expressed his dissatisfaction with the show regarding Paul’s absence during the death of Heather Stevens (Vail Bloom). There seems to be no sympathy between Davidson and the show anymore.

The actor, who portrayed Paul Williams from 1978 to 2020, has openly criticized the series for its lack of respect for him and his character.

Lately, the show’s explanation for Paul’s absence has particularly angered Davidson; It’s been four years since Paul was last seen in Genoa City and a lot has happened in his life off screen.

Davidson recently commented on the show in a Twitter exchange with General Hospital actor Kin Shriner, Scotty Baldwin on the ABC soap since 1977, who tweeted about his character’s unexpected absence.

He wrote: “Since the mystery of Scotty Baldwin’s disappearance at GeneralHospital was uncovered, here are the actors I’ve heard from; No wonder we all started out together – guess who calls every day!”

Shriner has been known to joke about his firing on social media, but this situation feels different — his partner Trish Ramish, who plays hostess on Metro Court, also did not appear on the show.

Davidson retweeted Shriner’s message and added: “Come to Portugal! They have excellent health care…Apparently I just had a heart attack and I’m fine…Sincerely, Paul Williams, former police chief of the city of Genoa.”

The soap industry can be challenging for veterans like Davidson and Shriner; While some shows still have their experienced actors, others reduce their roles or let them go.
