We spent the night at Oregon’s Haunted Winery. Look what happened – This is Oregon

Wine reporter Michael Alberty and I recently traveled to Gold Hill in southern Oregon to investigate the story of a haunted winery.

It’s Del Rio Vineyards, home to a supposedly haunted tasting room that was once a stagecoach hotel.

The interesting thing about this ghost story is that it is based on a real person. The woman believed to haunt the site is Hattie Haymond, who died in 1891 the house that still stands next door.

And according to stories from Haymond’s real life, her ghost may have good reasons to stick around.

We heard stories of strange noises, things moving inexplicably around the building, and ghostly figures wandering the halls.

We had to see it for ourselves. So we asked Del Rio management if we could spend the night in their tasting room and investigate some of the strange experiences that the staff attribute to Hattie.

During our overnight stay we had an interesting experience with a Ouija board and a few jump scares. Watch the entire ordeal above. (And in my defense, if you watch the video, the object in the basement was much harder to see on the camera screen at night!)

If you go: Would you like to get a taste of the Hattie story for yourself? Del Rio is hosting a series called Hattie’s Haunted Flight Nights from October 24th to 26th, where visitors can taste wine while learning about the history of Hattie and the history of the Rock Point community. Tickets are $45 and can be purchased on the Del Rio website.
