Child abuse case leads to arrest of two adults

West Plains, MO. – A series of child abuse incidents over the course of at least five years have led to the arrest of two people in the West Plains region.

Cody and Emily Toten, both of West Plains, face child molestation charges, with Cody seeing three times as many as Emily.

According to one of the probable cause affidavits, this stems from a series of child abuse situations that began as early as 2019. Both individuals’ affidavits indicate that these multiple cases of abuse were committed by Cody Toten, in which two teenage victims were left bleeding after being hit with the hand or with an object, and Emily Toten the court withdrew orders allowing Cody to do so to re-enter her life.

Both Cody and Emily Toten were arrested on October 11th. Cody has bail set at $50,000, while Emily’s bail has been set at $10,000.
