Last night in the final week of the high school football regular season, Roncalli defeated East Central 17-7, Batesville rolled over Connersville 41-0, Franklin County edged Bluffton 29-22, and Rushville won the EIAC Small Division , after defeating Greensburg 58-0. 0, Madison defeated Milan 42-28, North Decatur defeated Switzerland County 33-0, South Decatur defeated Irvington Prep 58-0 and Lawrenceburg defeated South Dearborn 17-14.

The Class 3A volleyball semifinals take place this morning on WRBI. Greensburg faces Jennings County, followed by Batesville against host Lawrenceburg. Reporting begins around 11 a.m. with Steve Giesting and Jody Thomas on the phone.

Elsewhere, host East Central battles Columbus East in 4A; South Ripley plays Southwestern (Hanover) in 2A action at Brownstown Central; In the 1A North Decatur section, the host Chargers face county rival South Decatur, and Milan face Rising Sun at Trinity Lutheran.

Oldenburg Academy will play Heritage Christian in the girls 1A regional championship game in Knightstown. We will be there after the Batesville/Lawrenceburg volleyball game. The OA boys will face Greenwood Christian in Knightstown for the 1A regional title. WRBI coverage begins around 4 p.m. Terrance Arney will call both OA football games.

Good luck to the area cross country teams competing in sectionals throughout the southern part of the state.

Today in college football: 6-0 Indiana hosts Nebraska, Notre Dame is at Georgia Tech, UC hosts Arizona State for homecoming, Ball State travels to Vanderbilt, Butler hosts the Dayton Flyers, Indiana State travels to Missouri State , Kentucky travels to Florida and Louisville faces the Miami Hurricanes at home.

Tomorrow in the NFL, the Bengals face the Browns in Cleveland in the first chapter of the Battle of Ohio, and the Colts host the Miami Dolphins. Both games start at 1 p.m

And the NASCAR Cup Series playoffs enter the round of 8 tomorrow in Las Vegas.
