WACO – The Texas A&M men’s tennis team started off with a successful day of play as six Aggies advanced to the round of 32 at the ITA Texas Regional at the Hurd Tennis Center on Friday.

No. 1 seeds JC Roddick began this morning with a game against Rahil Sachdev of Texas for the Aggies. The senior won 6-1, 6-0.

Fellow elder Giulio Perego competed against Meethre Barot of UTA. The number 6 seeded team advanced with a 6-0, 6-3 win.

No. 7 seeds Luke Casper competed against Emilio Vila of Incarnate Word. The senior took the win in three sets, 6-3, 3-6, 6-2.

Junior Togan Tokac played his first match against Rice’s Petro Kuzmenok. The number 8 seeded player advances after his win 6:4, 6:3.

Second semester Tiago Pires had his first match against Arthus de la Bassetiere from Rice. Pires fought to win in three sets, 6-4, 4-6, 6-2.

Redshirt freshman Ritesh Patil met Alejandro Hernandez of Incarnate World and took the win 6-4, 6-4.

graduate Matthias Ross fought hard but lost to Danijal Muminovic of UTSA 6-4, 7-6 (11-9). Junior Ethan Silva fell to Kabeer Kapasi of Rice 6-3, 7-6 (1). Second semester Grant Lothringer fought hard against Southern Methodist’s Noah McDonald, falling in two tiebreakers 7-6 (0), 7-6 (5). These three Aggies will continue to play in the consolation bracket.

Play continues tomorrow, October 19th, with the last 32 singles and doubles rounds. The consolation round of the last 32 also takes place on Saturday.
