Nintendo Switch offers free downloads that you can grab for 48 hours – Nintendo

Attention Nintendo Switch players: you only have 48 hours left to secure a new round of free downloads. The pressure is great.

To be fair, it doesn’t take much pressure to take out the Switch and turn it on so you can download a few free bits. I would argue that from experience the whole thing should be pretty easy.

Unless your Switch was stolen by a family of bears. In this case, you face a struggle and a race against time.

Nintendo fans will probably know by now that the Switch has a rotating selection of profile icons and avatars that can be purchased with points earned through play (so basically for free).

At the time of writing, there are only 48 hours left to secure a new selection of Super Mario cosmetics before the lineup changes again. So this is a warning to all the completionists out there.

Not that I’ve met a single person who actually cares about getting every single one of these Switch profile icons, especially with the Switch 2 seemingly closer than ever.

Many fans assume that the Switch 2 will be announced before the end of 2024 and released in the first half of 2025. Given that we’re now halfway through October 2024, it looks like the Switch 2 reveal might not happen as soon as we expected. I would have imagined.

Switch fans should also note that Nintendo recently released two Game Boy Advance bangers that you can download and try out for free if you’re subscribed to the online service.

A lot to keep us busy until Nintendo tells us something concrete.
