“Lady Chaps Welcome Texas A&M International in LSC Home Clash”

LUBBOCK, Texas (October 18, 2024) – Lubbock Christian University returns to the LCU Soccer and Track Complex on Saturday to take on Texas A&M International. After a 2-0 loss to Oklahoma Christian on Wednesday, the Lady Chaps are looking to get back on track. The Lone Star Conference matchup begins at 7 p.m

Lubbock Christian has an overall record of 5-5-2, with a record of 3-3-1 in Lone Star Conference games. As of Wednesday’s result, the Lady Chaps have lost consecutive games for just the second time this season, the first being against No. 1 Colorado School of Mines and Metropolitan State of Denver received the votes.

Texas A&M Int’l enters the game with a record of 3-4-5 overall and 2-2-3 in Lone Star play. The Dustdevils drew against UT Tyler on Wednesday in Tyler. TAMIU hasn’t won a game since Oct. 5, when they beat visiting West Texas A&M 2-0 in Laredo. Additionally, they struggled on the road, posting a 2-3-5 record away from home in Laredo.

Lubbock Christian and Texas A&M Int’l have been longtime opponents in both programs’ histories. Since 2013, the Lady Chaps and Dustdevils have met in 14 games, with Lubbock Christian having a 12-2 advantage. Additionally, Lubbock Christian is undefeated at home, with a record of 7-0 in Lubbock. In their last meeting, it was the Dustdevils who won 2-0 in Laredo on October 7, 2023.

The Lady Chaps continue to execute offensively Ella Spillerwhich ranks tenth in the Lone Star Conference with 12 points. She recorded four goals and assists in her first career season at Lubbock Christian, ranking her 11th in goals and third in assists in the Lone Star. Following closely behind Spiller, senior Avery Jennings scored 11 points from four goals and three assists. This places Jennings 11th in the conference in points scored and 10th in goals and assists. The strong play of the double goalkeepers, Emma Wright And Kara MurrayHe has strengthened the Lady Chaps defensively. Wright has recorded 25 saves and allowed seven goals, for a save percentage of 78.1%. Entering the last four games, Murray has made 16 saves and allowed four goals, a save rate of 80%. Additionally, she was responsible for all three of Lady Chap’s shutouts this season.

The Dustdevils’ offensive leader is Krysan St. Louis, who has three goals and one assist this season. Janize Castillo is just behind St. Louis and also scored three goals for TAMIU. Additionally, Candela Gonzalez scored two goals and led the team with 12 shots on goal. In front of the net, the Dustdevils are led by Claramalia Pederson. Pederson ranks in the top ten of all major statistical categories in the conference as they rank seventh in goals against average (1.239), seventh in shutouts per game (3), fifth in saves (40), and Ranked second in saves per game (5.71).
