Fruitvale Elementary is hosting its first playground planning event

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) – Fruitvale Elementary School held its first playground planning event on October 18th.

Parents, students, faculty and members of the Fruitvale community came to enjoy free food, music, crafts, a bounce house and participate in a survey to provide ideas and feedback for the proposed “wellness park.”

According to Fruitvale Elementary School Principal Angela Galyon, the goal of the event was to get at least 350 responses.

“My greatest hope is that we receive the full grant to fund a complete wellness park for Fruitvale Elementary and the Fruitvale community, and that students of all abilities and backgrounds can come and enjoy our facility,” she said.

Earlier this week, District 51 received a $50,000 grant to begin the planning process for a renovated park that would meet the diverse needs of its students and beyond.

“We really want this to be a project that impacts and speaks to our entire community and meets your needs,” Galyon said.
