Pioneer brand Brock Purdy jerseys raise money for scholarships for Iowa Ag students

When San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy recently appeared in a Pioneer brand commercial wearing a custom green Pioneer Brock Purdy jersey, it sparked a simple question from viewers.

“Where can I get a Pioneer-branded Brock Purdy jersey?”

This led to the opportunity for Pioneer to partner with the Iowa Foundation for Agricultural Advancement (IFAA) to give back to students interested in studying agriculture in college.

The jerseys have been made available for sale to the public and proceeds from jersey sales will go toward scholarships for students continuing their education in agriculture, says Macy Marek of Pioneer Seeds.

A total of $16,000 was donated to the IFAA, which provides performance-based financial awards each year to hundreds of students seeking to further their agriculture studies in Iowa. The money will be divided into four scholarships that will benefit students who want to study agriculture.

Marek says the jerseys were highly sought after and helped raise more money than Pioneer’s original goal.

IFAA’s Robin Sampson says that after Pioneer raised the money, Brock Purdy had a choice as to where he wanted to donate the money.

She says the four scholarships will be awarded at next year’s Iowa State Fair.

“Thank you, Pioneer, for partnering with me and giving back to IFAA to support students furthering their education,” Purdy said in a statement.

“I spent four years at Iowa State University and saw firsthand how important their agriculture program is and how many students pursue degrees in agriculture.”
