Natural gas leak in Adrian on Friday afternoon

Adrian, MI – A natural gas leak occurred at the intersection of Charles and Maumee Streets in Adrian. The leak started when a worker replacing the curb and gutter at the intersection cut too deep into the street and punctured the gas line.

A representative from Citizens Gas Fuel Company told WLEN News the leak was reported around noon and the escaping gas was contained by 1 p.m.

This representative further stated that a building was voluntarily evacuated and that no workers or citizens were injured as a result of the leak.

Parts of Maumee Street and Charles Street were briefly closed to traffic while workers repaired the leak, but residents said they would reopen the street by early afternoon.
